*Not Certified by the Texas Board of Legal SpecializationMr. Giovannini is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, and a Law School Graduate of the University of California at Davis. He passed the Texas Bar and was licensed to practice law in the State of Texas in November of 1997. He joined the Nueces County Attorney's Office as an Assistant County Attorney, and served and actively litigated cases as a prosecutor in County Court at Law Number 1, 2 and 3. After gaining criminal trial experience, he joined the civil division of the Nueces County Attorney's Office, and represented Nueces County in a variety of situations, including, but not limited to, child protective service cases, mental commitment hearings, and bail bond issues. After gaining civil litigation experience with the Nueces County Attorney's Civil Division, Mr. Giovannini was hired by the Nueces County District Attorney's Office. As an Assistant District Attorney in the Appellate Division he worked on briefs dealing with the rules and law that are the backbone of the Texas Criminal Justice System.
After spending approximately three (3) years of time in the above-referenced public service positions, Mr. Giovannini joined the Insurance Defense Law Firm of Thornton, Summers, Biechlin, Dunham & Brown (now Thornton, Biechlin, Segrato, Reynolds & Guerra, L.C., see www.thorntonfirm.com). Working directly under Joseph Segrato, Mr. Giovannini acquired experience in the preparation and litigation of large insurance law cases, involving such issues as product design, construction, mold, and insurance coverage issues. He left the firm in 2002, establishing a general private practice, which includes criminal, insurance, and family law.*
